Most people can’t do a backflip with two legs.

Adam Starr, a 26-year-old cancer survivor on his YouTube profile, will blow you away as he flips all over the place in the video below. But surviving cancer is only half of it. Adam lost his leg to the disease.

The below is Adam’s first time back in the gym since the amputation in 2009.

Undoubtably, Adam is an inspiration for overcoming adversity and getting back into the swing of things after such a traumatic experience.

Verona van de Leur (NED)

There is serious drama for retired Dutch star, Verona van de Leur:

Van de Leur was in court Tuesday to face charges from a 2010 arrest, the Dutch media reported.

The world and European medalist pleaded guilty to charges of extortion, stemming from an incident in March 2010. Reportedly, van de Leur photographed two people in a park she believed were having an affair and demanded 3,000 euros (USD$4,300) in exchange for the photos.

The couple went to the police, who searched van de Leur’s computer and discovered two videos and 144 photos of child pornography. A further search turned up an illegal weapon in a car.

While Van de Leur admitted to “misjudgment” on her part for the extortion attempt, she “disassociated” herself from the illegal material found on her computer. She and her lawyer, Freek van der Brugge, argued that multiple people had use of the computer.

The gymnast has already spent 72 days and jail and the prosecution hopes to add another 90 days plus 80 hours of community service. The sentencing will be May 3.

There are still major concerns about leakage, radiation and other consequences from the devastated powerplant.

Grandi recently gave an interview in which he stated seven countries — including France, Russia and the U.S. — already indicated they would not send their gymnasts to Japan. This year’s world championships are the first step in qualification for the 2012 Olympic Games in London; any nations that sit out this year’s worlds would forfeit their gymnasts’ chances of competing in London.

The 2011 World Championships are scheduled for October 7-16 in Tokyo. The FIG is set to decide in May whether or not to relocate the championships to another host city.

Jacob Dalton (Oklahoma Univ. Sooners)

Top-ranked Oklahoma, led by Jacob Dalton and Steven Legendre, and No. 2 Stanford did nothing during Thursday’s qualifying sessions at the NCAA men’s gymnastics championships to derail their impending showdown in the finals.

The Sooners piled up 363.500 points in the early session, with Stanford also earning one of the six berths in Friday’s team competition by winning the second session with 366.100 total points.

“It was a great prelims for us. It should give us a lot of confidence going into finals,” Sooners coach Mark Williams said. “We had a lot of highlights that will give us a lot of momentum going into tomorrow.”

The other four teams vying for the team title at Ohio State’s St. John Arena will be Penn State, Illinois, California and Michigan.

Cal extended its season – and possibly the life of the program – for at least another day by finishing second to Stanford with 261.800 points. The men’s gymnastics team was one of five sports designated for elimination last September in a cost-cutting move. The team is just over halfway toward raising the $4 million needed to continue competing.

“I’m very happy with how the team did. The first few events we had no misses whatsoever and were on a roll,” Bears coach Tim McNeill said. “As the meet went on we had some stumbles, but the team never gave up and never quit. I’m really, really proud of the guys.”

All eyes turn to the women qualification round now.

Reigning World Champion in the all around, Aliya Mustafina, departed Berlin for Munich on Monday where she will undergo surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The operation will be performed by the same physician who operated on Boris Becker and Oksana Chusovitina.

“It was thought to be an injured meniscus,” Valentina Rodionenko told “All Sport” news agency. “The diagnosis was clarified through the imaging: rupture of the left anterior cruciate ligament. Aliya spent the night in the hospital and in the morning she was allowed to return to the hotel. They put on a tight bandage so there would be no swelling, because a lot of swelling causes problems for the surgery.”

“I cannot say what the problem was with this landing,” said Chusovitina, a five-time Olympian. “How this mistake happened is not very clear because Mustafina went into the vault very well. But this is sport, it happens.” (See video of vault here).

“Aliya could have had surgery in Berlin,” Rodionenko said. “But local experts themselves insisted that it’s better to contact one of the clinics in Munich that specializes in knee joints. This is where the great German tennis player Boris Becker had surgery and where the German national football team goes.”

Chusovitina, who has competed for Germany since 2006, went to the same expert for knee surgery after the 2004 Olympics in Athens. Chusovitina, who turns 36 in June, won the silver medal on vault at the 2008 Olympics and in Berlin.

“If she does surgery at the right place and has proper rehabilitation, trust me, she can vault,” Chusovitina told newspaper “Moskovsky Komsomolets.” “The doctor the Russians are going to operated on me. Same knee, but I had another problem. After Athens I could not vault, nor even really do anything. After eight months of looking for the cause, only this doctor figured out what was wrong. I had the surgery, and after two weeks I was walking without pain. Believe me, he’s really a professional of the highest class. For 30 years he’s been operating only on knees.”
